This program helps applicants be employed as a caregiver while living with a Canadian family and gaining Canadian experience in Canada. If approved, the live-in caregiver can live in Canada for up to 2 years with a Canadian family before returning or applying for permanent residence. These qualified individuals can give privatized care for children, the elderly or those with disabilities in a private home environment. Live in caregivers must reside in the private home where they are employed while gaining work experience.

Basic Requirements

• Those applicants that have at least 6 months of training or 12 months of work experience as a live-in caregiver can file an application for this type of visa. There are additional requirements that must also be met, and are as follows:
• Completion of studies that are equivalent to Canadian secondary school education, 6 months training or 1 year of full time experience (at least 6 months with an employer) in the last 3 years.
• From the future Canadian employer a written contract along with a job confirmation letter.
• Also, the applicant must be efficient in English or French. Those that have experience in early childhood care, geriatric care, pediatric nursing or first aid care are considered useful.
